Lois L. Chill, 96, loved as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024.
She was the first child of Robert and Bertha Mathiot, farmers in southeast Kansas. Lois graduated from Marion, Kansas High School. In 1945, Lois met Alfred (Al) Chill who had recently returned to Marion from service in World War II. They married on September 8, 1946, and lived in various cities in Kansas. In 1952, they moved to Guymon, Oklahoma where Al was transferred to accept a position as manager of a regional clothing store.
Lois was a homemaker, cheerleader for three boys, and avid bridge player. Later, she and Al purchased a 50% interest in the D&J clothing store in Guymon. Together, they operated a business selling clothing for several years until they retired. Lois and Al had three sons, Bruce of Oklahoma City; Brad (deceased); and Brian of Oklahoma City. Lois and Al lived in Guymon from 1952 until they moved to Oklahoma City in 2015.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Al, brother Max Mathiot; sister Jeannie Henson; son Brad Chill; and great grandsons Logan and Griffin Chill.
Lois is survived by two sons Bruce Chill and wife Teresa, and Brian Chill and Kim Chill; grandchildren Lacie Hill and husband Brian, Jeff Chill and wife Karlee, Brantan Chill and wife Lauren, Brian Keith Chill, and Brendon Chill and wife Molly; great grandchildren Channing, Maddox, and Walker Hill and Avery, Ellie, Iyla, Evelyn, Madelyn and Alfie Chill; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Henson-Novak Funeral Home in Guymon.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon with Pastor David Player officiating.
