On Good Friday, March 29,2024, Patsy “Darlene” Blackburn Brooks went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:30 am in the chapel at Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, 501 N.W. Fifth St., Guymon, OK followed by burial at Guymon Elmhurst Cemetery with her dearly departed family.
Darlene was born on the Coon Ranch near Dumas, TX December 20, 1941 to TL and Julia Larson Blackburn. The family moved to Guymon, OK where she attended school, and graduated in 1959.
Darlene married Penny Brooks on November 14, 1959 in Clayton, NM. They started a family and lived in Stratford many years before making a series of moves to Gruver, TX, Tulia, TX, Alanreed, TX, the LS Ranch, near Valle de Oro, TX. and Shamrock, TX. She lived out the remainder of her life in Pampa, TX.
Darlene was a secretary/bookkeeper until her retirement in 2006. Together, she and Penny bred and raised outstanding Quarterhorses.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack and Jim, sister Loretta Jane Brown, grandson Craig Fenwick and ex-husband Penny Brooks. She is survived by her daughter Melba Fenwick and son-in-law Kelly, her son Taylor Brooks, brother Duck Blackburn and sister-in-law Joan of Balko, OK, sister Bonnie Carson and brother-in-law Don of Iowa Park, TX, brother-in-laws Dwight and Ronnie Brooks and sister-in-laws Mary and Becky Brooks of Stratford, TX, one granddaughter Stephanie Dockery and granddaughter-in-love Megan of Austin, TX, five grandsons, Andrew Klein and granddaughter-in-love Charity of Pampa, TX, Cameron Klein of Fort Worth, TX, Austin Brooks and fiancé/granddaughter-in-love Kelsey of Pampa, TX, Carson Brooks and granddaughter-in-love Kathryn Culbert of Canyon, TX and Brent Fenwick of Amarillo, TX, seven great grandchildren, Nick, Hayden, Kaedence, Oliver, Kalyssa, Ezra and Damon, and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, too many to mention.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
The family would love for family and friends to accompany them for lunch (Dutch treat) and memories at The Pub on the Bricks restaurant, 120 NE Fifth St., Guymon, OK immediately following the burial.
