Ron Riffel

June 12, 1950 ~ April 24, 2016 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Guymon, Oklahoma – Ron Riffel, known by everyone in town as Rip, passed away Sunday morning, April 24, 2016 at his home.

The son of Gerald and Vera (Ehrlich) Riffel, he was born June 12, 1950 in Higgins, Texas.  The Riffel family moved to Guymon in 1957 and Rip graduated with the Guymon High School Class of 1968.  Rip began his career in construction in 1973 and has owned and operating Rip’s Building and Remodeling, enjoying his customers and making his community a better place.  He was united in marriage to Donna Johnson on May 27, 1995.  With Donna’s help in volunteering, Rip served as the Pioneer Day Chairman from 1993-1996, was active in the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association.  Faith was such an important part of his life and Rip was an active member of Lifeway Christian Center; he wanted all to know that “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31, no matter how hard the journey.  Ron loved and served his Lord and Savior selflessly since 1974. He was the happiest when he was sharing Jesus Christ and the promises of his Abba Father.  

He is survived by his wife, Donna Riffel; mother, Vera Riffel ; three sisters, Cindy and husband, Gary Winters; Melody and husband, Tony Lemmones all of Guymon; Leesa and husband, Gary Walker of Fritch, TX; one brother, Troy Riffel and wife, Cozette of Guymon.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Linda Morton of Okmulgee, OK; and many in Donna’a family including Amanda and Raymond Christie, Sarah King, Denver King, Kasey Morton, Chris Taylor, Sandy and Doug Gimmel, Jerry Johnson, and Bradley Johnson.  Rip is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and more friends than one can count.

He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and a brother, James Michael Riffel.

Memorial services will be Friday, April 29th, 2:00 PM at the Nazarene Church, 2214 North Sunset Lane, Guymon, with Pastor Dallas McGlasson and Eric Mikles, officiating.  Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors.
