Mary Ann Rose (Jaramillo) Montaño

Mary Ann Rose (Jaramillo) Montaño, 66, of Guymon, OK passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at her home. The daughter of Eusebio and Lilia (Maestas) Jaramillo was born January 5, 1950 in Las Vegas, NM.

 

She was married to Leroy Montaño, Sr. in Las Vegas, NM on August 5, 1967. 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, Ramona (Sanchez) Baca, brothers-in-law: Anthony Sanchez, Ray Montaño, & Manuel Montaño, sister-in-law Corrine Westenhaver and husband Royce, four nieces:  Stephanie Dimas, Erlinda Martinez, Karen (Taylor) Smith, & Eunice (Lovato) Williams, and two nephews:  Jesse Taylor & Fernando Ruiz.

 

Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many.   Mary Ann had attended classes at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell.  She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Guymon and was a very Christian woman that prayed every day. Mary Ann was a member of the Rose Garden Club and past president, which included taking on the beautification project at the Guymon Post Office.  She recruited help to establish the landscaping that included roses, her favorite flower, for all of Guymon to enjoy. She was currently the 2015-2017 NW District President of the Oklahoma Garden Clubs, Inc.  She was also a member of Main Street Guymon. Mary Ann also was a substitute teacher at Guymon Schools.  At St. Peter’s Catholic Church she was  past member of the Cursillo Movement, had served as treasurer of the Parish Council, active in the Altar Society, served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Rollista , and Religious Education teacher for St. Peters. Leroy, Sr. and Mary Ann started the family car business, Tiger Auto Sales in 1979.

 

Survivors include: Leroy, Sr. of the home, Charlie their family pet, five children which include: Lillian Stump & husband, David of Guymon, Leroy, Jr. & wife, Tracy of Blanchard, OK, Marlene Brown & husband, Steve of Guymon, Michael & wife, Deena of Guymon, Lee & wife, Jenny of Carrollton, TX; eleven grandchildren: Anna Marie Montaño, Elizabeth Stump, Nicholas Stump, Brittany Curtis & husband, Mattheau, Brandon Montano, Kaleb Brown, Sean Brown, Kendall Brown, Chelsea Cappellucci & husband, Lane, Chase Montaño, Cameron Montaño. She is also survived by eight siblings: Hilario Jaramillo & wife, Theresa of Albuquerque NM, Francis Dimas & husband, Robert of Las Vegas NM, Andy Jaramillo and wife, Vivian of Los Lunas, NM, Dora Martinez of Las Vegas, NM, Lorraine Jaramillo & husband, Lawrence Rendon of Espanola, NM, Beatrice Tafoya & husband, Johnny of Las Vegas, NM, Belinda Jaramillo of Albuquerque, NM, and Diane Martinez & wife & Azucenca Hernandez of Pecos, NM, and several great nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

 

Viewing will be Monday afternoon, 3-6:00 PM at the Henson-Novak Funeral Home, 501 NW Fifth, Guymon.  A Rosary will be said Monday evening, 7:30 PM at St. Peter’s the Apostle Catholic Church, 1220 North Quinn.  There will be a mass celebrating Mary Ann’s life at St. Peter the Apostle Church on Tuesday morning, 11:00 AM, with Father Mike Wheelahan, officiating, with burial services to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.
