Lee Bradford

February 15, 1938 ~ October 3, 2016 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Gruver, Texas – Gena Lee Bradford, 78, longtime Gruver resident, passed away Monday afternoon, October 3, 2016 at BSA Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.

Born a twin to Dolly Mae (Cofer) and Arthur M. Harmon, Gena Lee Harmon was born February 15, 1938 in Matador, Texas.  She attended and graduated from Roaring Springs School.  Lee was united in marriage to Van E. Bradford on December 30, 1956.  Van received his draft notice a month later and the young couple spent a year in Hawaii while Van was in the United States Army.

The Bradfords moved to Gruver in 1959, where they made their home and reared their family.  Lee was a loving and active mother and grandmother and a devoted wife.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Red Hat group.  In their retirement years, Lee and Van were able to attend their grandkids’ activities and enjoyed travelling with their RV club, High Plains FMCA. 

Lee is survived by her husband of 60 years, Van Bradford of Gruver; daughter, Vana Mans and husband, Tony of Gruver; her son, Jody Bradford and wife, Eadie of Panhandle Texas; twin sister, Genavee Gordon of Matador; two brothers, Bill Harmon and wife, Martha of Lubbock; Gordon Harmon and wife, Freddie of Mansfield.  She was “Grammy” to her six grandchildren, Chase Reid, Chelsea Andersen, Halli Karlin, Jade, Jacy and Jett Bradford and her four great grandchildren, Cinch, Trace and Aspen Reid, and Kane Karlin.  She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A.M. and Dolly Harmon; sister, Juanita Cooper, and two brothers, Arthur Harmon and Lonnie Harmon.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning, October 6th, 11:00 AM at Gruver First Baptist Church, 402 E. Broadway, with Rev. Scott Curry, pastor, officiating.  Graveside services will be Friday afternoon, 2:00 PM, at the East Mound Cemetery, Matador, Texas.  Services are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon, Oklahoma.

Viewing will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home or Thursday morning, 9:00-11:00 AM at the Gruver Baptist Church.
