Ken Gurwell

Kenneth Lee Gurwell, 72, of Borger, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Borger.  The son of Ottis and Irene Lile Gurwell, he was born in Guymon, Oklahoma on September 16, 1945.

Ken was a 1963 graduate of Guymon High School.  Then served his country in the Navy.  He married Aleta Jo Baker Gurwell on February 24, 1968 in Guymon. 
Ken worked for Phillips at the Sherhan plant south of Guymon from 1968 to 2000.  In 2000, he was transferred to DCP Rockcreek in Borger, Texas where he retired in 2011.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Gurwell Lewis, and brothers Ralph and Richard Gurwell.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Aleta Jo, his daughter Holly Gurwell Shelton and husband Chris of Canyon, Texas; granddaughters Abigail and Isabelle Shelton; brother-in-law Bill Lewis of Guymon, Oklahoma, nephew Mark Lewis and wife Judy of Guymon.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Burgin Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Local arrangements are under the direction of Henson~Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.  Friends may sign the book or leave an online condolence at www.hensonnovak.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
