Welcome to the memorial page for

Johnita J. Gloden

August 16, 1953 ~ April 18, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Johnita Joy Gloden, 63, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2017 at BSA Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.

The daughter of Melba Ruth (Costner) and John Albert Fox, Johnita Joy Fox was born August 16, 1953 in Corona, California.  Johnita attended Guymon schools and graduated with the Class of 1971.   Classmates turn into best friends, which turn into soul mates and partners for life.  Johnita married Bobby Terryl Gloden soon after their graduation on June 17, 1971.  They lived on the family farm in the Hough Community, north of Guymon, where she eventually designed her dream home.

Johnita, called Johnny to most, will always be remembered for her huge smile, loud laugh, and her gift of hospitality. She had the God-given talents that made her the best at everything she did…whether it was gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, decorating, making floral arrangements, doing crafts, teaching Sunday school, or planning dinners and showers. Whatever it was, she did it with gusto! She enjoyed playing the piano at Morning Star United Methodist Church and often said that she could get lost in worship, just by sitting all alone at her piano and singing to her heavenly Father. Many went into Wolf Creek Mini Mall just because they knew she’d be there to provide a smile and a kind word. But as much as she loved on everyone around her, she loved her family the most. The relationship between her and Bobby was one that many would be fortunate to experience. She was known as “Nohnny” to Hannah, Lainey, Trig & Audy, but her greatest joy was her grandson, Seth. She loved watching and supporting him in anything he chose to do, whether it was music, sports, school reports, or church activities. She always made birthdays and holidays special; she loved hosting big holiday dinners for anyone who needed a place to go. There are many, many stories of her selfless love, generosity, sense of humor, & kindness. Johnita was a pillar in the community and within her family.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Johnita is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bobby Gloden; mother, Ruth Fox Fischer; daughter, Misty Bartels and husband, Kyle; and her #1 grandson, Seth Bartels.  She is also survived by her brother, Mike Fox and wife, Lanae, of Weatherford, Texas; many special nieces and nephews; Brazilian exchange-son, Bernardo Bastos, and a daughter by love, Anna Hackett of Wyoming.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Fox, who passed away in 1999.

Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon, April 22nd, 2:00 PM, at the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough with Pastor Max Whipple, officiating and Johnita’s uncle, Rev. Jim Fox, assisting.  Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery, Guymon.  Arrangements are entrusted to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.
