Professor David Miller, 57 year old Goodwell, Oklahoma resident, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

David Lester Miller was born September 9, 1959 in Enid, Oklahoma to Lester and Peggy (Bishop) Miller.

David graduated from Edmond public schools in 1977.  His education started at Oklahoma State University in 1983 when he obtained his B.S. in Agriculture. At the same time, he was working as the property manager for Combined Capital Corporation in Oklahoma City.  David continued his education obtaining his M.B.A. at Oklahoma City Community College in 1990.  He started his graduate work at Texas Tech University from 1992 through 1997.  

In 1987 he was an adjunct instructor in Wilderness Education at Oklahoma City Community College.  He remained in that capacity until 1991. In 1991 he started his career as an adjunct business instructor at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.  In 1993 he became a professor of business at OPSU.  He remained a professor until 1998. In 1998 David was promoted to assistant professor of Business.  Then in 2004 David became chair of the business department and was currently holding that position at the time of his passing.

 

David was very active in the Boy Scouts; obtaining his Eagle Scout status.  He was also an adult leader for the scouts for many years. David was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.  

David was preceded in Death by his mother Rose Marie (Peggy) Miller in 2015 and a sister Kay Lynn in 1960.  David is survived by his wife of the home Rose Miller, one daughter Rae Marie and husband Scott Neigebauer of Guymon, his father Lester Miller of Elkhart, Kansas, two brothers Terrel Miller of Denver, Colorado and Lyle Miller of Mobile, Alabama.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM till 6:PM Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Henson- Novak Funeral Home with family greeting friends at that time.

Burial will take place 2:00 PM local time Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in Brush, Colorado at the Brush Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Canyon Camp with designation for funds to be placed for the construction of the new welcome center.
